How to get the most out of your potion box!

Thinking about buying a potion kit?

Already bought a potion kit and not sure how to get started?

Let this be your guide!

You will need a potion making vessel and some utensils.

These can be as simple as a bowl or cup and a spoon of some sort, or as creative as an ice flower bowl!

We also have a range of real cast iron cauldrons and wooden accessories that you can bundle up with your potion kit, click here to view the range.

Find a space where you can freely create your magic, this can be a spot inside with a plastic table cloth for easy clean up or outside at a mud kitchen or outdoor setting.

Great tip: Use a tray for your bowl and sorting pots, this contains the mess if the potion starts to overflow.

How to add additional ingredients: To add to your kit, head out to a garden to collect some nature elements like flowers, leaves, dandelions, pebbles, and/or bark to add into your potions.

You might like to even download our FREE Nature Map to help you discover more magical things you can put into your potions.

Now you’re ready to open your potion box!

Unpack your spell cards, be sure to save the wrap from around your spell cards as it has a QR code that will lead you to a digital download DIY spell card - another great way to extend your play!

Read your first card, on the back side you will find the ingredient list -  this will tell you all about each ingredient and what strengths/powers they will contribute to your potions. This helps open up creativity to kids creating their own spells once all the cards have been made.

The next four cards are your affirmations and spells - we encourage you to follow the spell cards as they will help you get the most out of the ingredients that are in your kit.

Once you choose a spell to create, read the story and select the ingredients for your making - then scoop, sprinkle, shake and pour them into your bowl or cauldron and watch as it bubbles, fizzes and sparkles when you stir it all together.

As your potion bubbles away, take a deep breath and say the magical words that follow on from your spell instructions.

Repeat this process for each spell within your potion kit - remember, you don’t need to create them all in a day - you can always just create the spell that feels right for the moment you are in at the time.

Once you have made your potions, there are many things you can do with your sparkly creation, you can find some ideas here.

We hope this helps you with getting the most out of your potion kit!
