CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL FAIRY DAY (Wings not required, but highly encouraged!)

Did you know that June 24th is International Fairy Day!?

This is one of the most whimsical dates on the calendar, and we’re here to tell you why!

Unlike other holidays that come with obligations to buy gifts, go visiting, spend hours preparing, decorating, cooking and cleaning.  International Fairy Day gives us permission to stay home, believe in magic and reconnect with nature. It is a day for celebrating all things that are whimsical, nature inspired, love-filled and of course sprinkled with fairy dust!

You might be wondering how you can celebrate a day dedicated to fairies, good news! There are no rules, it's up to you and your imagination. Whether you have loved to believe in fairies since you were a child and were obsessed with Shirley Barber "The Flower fairies" or have only just found your love for them since becoming a parent of a little magic maker, there are some very simple, yet sweet ways to invite some fairy magic into your world.

Here are some of our favourite ways to celebrate International Fairy Day:

🌸 Create a Fairy Ring

Head outside and gather nature’s treasures, flower petals, leaves, feathers, bark and form a circle on the ground... think Bluey episode Season 1, Episode 30 "FAIRIES". According to folklore, fairy rings are portals to their realm, and stepping into one (especially while making a wish) is said to invite their magic.

Mix Up a Fairy Potion

If you’ve got one of our potion kits at home, now’s the time to bring it out! Or go DIY with rose petals, a sprinkle of (biodegradable) glitter, a few drops of coloured water, and a kind-hearted wish. Mix, stir, swirl and don’t forget to whisper your spell.

🧚 Make a Fairy House

Build a tiny home at the base of a tree, under a bush, or even in a flower pot. Use bark, moss, sticks, and shells to make it feel cozy and magical. Fairies love a charming hideaway and little ones love checking back to see if there are signs someone moved in, or also check out the fairy door kit from Your Wild books.

🔍 Go on a Fairy Hunt

Take a wander through the garden or local park and search for fairy clues twinkling dew drops, mushrooms, twisted vines, and tiny doorways in trees. Bring a magnifying glass and let your imagination guide you. Fairies often leave behind subtle signs if you’re paying close attention. Theres also a beautiful fairy scavenger downloadable at Eco explorers you can find HERE.

🌿 Leave an Offering

Write a kind note, draw a little picture, or leave a small shiny object (a polished stone, a petal, a bead). Fairies are said to be drawn to acts of love, kindness, and creativity.

📚 Read a Fairy Tale or Bedtime Spell

Some of our favourite books include: Flower fairies by Cicley Baker, The Natural history of fairies by Emily Hawkins, Rainbow Magic by Shirley Barber and A little BUsh Fairy by Maggie May Gordon.

End the day with a story full of wonder or a gentle affirmation like:

"May the fairies bless my dreams tonight and fill my heart with joy and light."

It’s the perfect way to wind down and hold onto that magic a little longer.

To Celebrate this day, we've put together a fun filled fairy activity booklet for FREE that you can DOWNLOAD HERE

However you choose to celebrate, let your heart discover the magic of the fairies. Fairy Day isn’t about perfection, it’s about play, presence, and possibility. Whether you’re barefoot in the backyard or stirring potions in the kitchen sink, this is your invitation to believe in a world that’s more magical than it seems.

Happy International Fairy Day, little magic makers.

May your day be filled with light, laughter, and a whole lot of sparkle. ✨
